Joint Charity Projects of L.A. Cafe and Barangay 668 of Ermita, Manila
Fiesta Feeding Frenzy - May 19, 2008

 

L.A. Café located in M.H. Del Pilar Ermita, Manila, in cooperation with Barangay 668 sponsored a Fiesta feeding program for the street children last May 19, Monday at the Plaza Gracia. Hundreds of children and adults showed up for the event.

After the short message  of Barangay Chairwoman Flordeliza Bayan, foods and drinks were served. Spaghetti, hot dog, bread and juices were enjoyed by the indigent children of Ermita. Children’s faces lights up with delight as employees of L.A. Café served them with great pleasure as Barangay tanods made sure that everyone is provided for.

Gift giving and raffle draw immediately followed after. Boxes of toys, clothes and candies were distributed to the children and their parents or guardian.

This Feeding program by L.A. Café and Barangay 668 started since 2005. This program aims to encourage other business establishments in the Ermita area to do charitable programs of their own, to which only the same group will benefit, the indigent children of Ermita, Manila.

FREE RICE PORRIDGE FOR CHILDREN

Free rice porridge for children is served every Sunday, 2pm at the Ermita Park, M.H. Del Pilar St., corner Sta. Monica St. This joint project of L.A. Cafe and Barangay 668 started in October 2006 and has been going on eversince. This small effort brings smiles and cheers to street children and have been gaining notice. Sponsors of this charitable project hopes that this will start similar mission from other business establishment in the area.

L.A. Cafe is encouraging other business establishments to do the same or combine efforts for a better Ermita. Suggestions and sponsorship both from companies and private donors of similar projects are welcome, email us at info@ermita.com
EASTER SUNDAY FREE RICE PORRIDGE AND GIFT GIVING - APRIL 8, 2007
In the spirit of the Lenten season, L.A. Cafe gave away gifts to less fortunate children of the streets at the Ermita Park last Easter Sunday. More than the usual showed up for the free porridge and gift giving, sponsored in part by a Scott Gregory. Flag raising ceremony initiated the event followed by inspirational speeches from the Operation Manager (Emelinda Viray), Risk Management Head (Ret. Col. Rogelio Bonifacio) and the Human Resource Manager of L.A. Cafe (Jean Carbonel). Gifts were from the generous employees and regular customers of L.A. Cafe.
